Master Bedroom Paint

I started painting my bedroom several weeks ago, and it turned out to be quite the project.  After searching ideas on the web and pinning them on Pinterest, I finally came up with a vision.  I started by cutting my own stencil through the good graces of Jody.  She let me borrow her Sihouette Cutter, of which I dream of owning my own one day.  Such an amazing machine!  (Please let me win one from someone's awesome giveaway! A girl can hope!)

Back to the room.  I stenciled a semi-gloss black paint of the walls and it took me a total of six days, over the course of two weeks to complete.  I then rolled glaze onto the walls, and ragged it off to define the texture in the walls and get an aged and dimensional look. This took me another three days to complete.

Next I painted the trim on the bottom and a white strip about 6 inches up. We then hung a thin piece of decorative trim.  We also hung casing trim along the ceiling.

I'm felt like the project was taking me forever, and I really let the house go.   However, Simultaneously,  I coordinated a quilting project at my girls school,  made some totally awesome valentines, planned & oversaw a valentines party for my 1st grader, and oversaw a boxtops collection at our elementary school.  Sheesh, I getting tired just thinking back on everything.  I have no idea how I got through it all.

Anyhoo, I'm on a hunt for new curtains, and then next year I'll be replacing our bedroom furniture.  Can't wait for the entire room to be put together, but a lass, we can not always have everything just when we want it.  Good things are worth waiting for though.

With that said, I am not off to paint the basement!  My goal is to have it done before my daughters 7th birthday.  Wish me luck!  If you like what I've done, leave me some love!  xoxo Jen

Lot's of Love

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!  It's been a Valentines Frenzy at my house.  I let my kids look at my Valentine Board on Pinterest and of course they didn't want to do a simple valentine this year.  So, as usual, I spent way too much time ignoring the house, and crafting instead.  The kids had a great day, and received lot's of love in return for the cute things they gave out.  In the end, it was worth it, and I would do again!

Hope you all had a great day full of love!  I know we did!

Toot! Toot!

I'm a total blog slacker lately. We are pretty much getting to the point of being organized and unpacked in our new house. We are absolutely loving it. I feel so grateful to be in such a nice house at such a young age. It's nice to be in a home that we feel like we can stay in until we downsize one day.

So, what's been happening around here???

Audrey had her teacher conference today, and she is doing amazing. I was worried about moving her schools again, but she is so adaptable and bright, and I just love her two teachers. They seem to really recognize the different needs of each student and they are catering to their students levels. I couldn't be happier with Audrey's education.

Sadie has started Joy School. Myself and 9 other mom's have organized a preschool for our 10 children. We are teaching in teams of two, two months out of the school year. We have some great kids in the group and helping them learn is so much fun. I'm thinking about substitute teaching here and there, just because I love it so much.

Porter is running everywhere. His vocabulary is exploding right now. His sisters were excellent talkers, and I didn't think he would speak to their level but he is starting to prove me wrong. I feel like life is moving much too fast with him right now. I fear my baby day's are quickly slipping away, so I am trying to enjoy every last moment I can get with his chubby little toes and cheeks.

Mike spent some time in Canada for work and really enjoyed to cultural differences. We are heading down to the dunes in the am for some quality family camping time and he's worked hard to get us ready for our trip. I can tell he is ready to get away again.

As for me, I spent a weekend up in Park City with the girls from LittleDreamerDesigns.com for a digital scapbook get away retreat. It was so much fun to put faces with names to so many ladies I have only communicated with on the computer. Michelle, our host, took our photo's and she is an awesome photographer. I think it's little weird to post a pic of myself, but it's not to often you have a professional photo taken of yourself, so I wanted to share. She did an amazing job.
Well it's off to sleepy time so I can get up and go camping! Happy Weekend!
